Project at a glance
What is it?
Our proposed large-scale Gippsland offshore wind farm cluster comprises of two proposed project sites. Each project is expected to generate 2.7 GW of renewable energy totalling 5.4 GW in potential generation capacity.
Ørsted estimates this could eventually power the equivalent of 4 million Australian homes, making a significant contribution to the country’s decarbonisation goals.
Ørsted’s dual site cluster approach is based on our expertise in delivering more gigawatt-class offshore wind farms than anyone else. This includes our record-breaking multi-gigawatt Hornsea cluster in the UK and the Greater Changhua cluster in Taiwan.
Who’s behind it?
Ørsted – a renewable energy company head quartered in Denmark and the global leader in offshore wind.
When is it happening?
The first project is expected to be completed in the early 2030s
Where is it?
More than 50 km off the coast of Gippsland, Victoria
